I am going to admit something to all you ladies. I HATE Casual Fridays. Where I work, a County agency, it is almost impossible to tell the employees from the clients on "Dress Down" days. Casual Friday has been so severely abused that my co-workers show up in regularly in rumpled shirts, flip flops, stretch pants and other inappropriate attire. This "casual" day should be described as casualty Friday because with every passing year it goes from bad to worse.
People, please. If you feel comfortable reclining on your sofa in your clothes with a beer in one hand and a remote in the other, the look is not for the office. I am not even going to get into the pajama look for outside.
I was reading that a University study was recently done that showed it matters a great deal how you look at work. According to the Vanderbilt study, the way you look and dress affects those around you. When you look good, you not only make others feel good about you, you make them feel good about themselves.
If you feel good about who you are and what you do, shout it to the world by dressing up on Fridays rather than dressing for comfort. Let Friday be known from now on as Fashion Friday. You will not only be a source of inspiration for your co-workers, you will increase their happiness level!
Note: for those of you that think I have my bitch pants on .... I am going to figure out how to work my camera phone and take some pics so you know what I have to look at on Fridays.
This is definately another way to look at it -- especially the part where the way you look and dress affects those around you.
Honestly I was laughing out loud...I want those photos!

Here in the South, working for a major Federal contracting company BCBS, we have to pay 5.00 a month (donated to a charity) to be able to dress down in jeans on Friday...otherwise the dress code is rather strict-even the parking areas come with restictions...park in the wrong spot-they fine you 25.00 and if you dont pay within 10 days they put a boot on your vehicle..damn I love my job!

If you take those pics make sure you blur
the faces or do the thing they used to do in
Glamour's Do's and Don'ts. I'd hate to see
you lose your job! I totally agree with you though. Lots of places have stopped the dress down day or done the donation to wear jeans option. Sometimes at our school its hard to tell the students from the teachers-except for the really old ones like me!
